HWCG Attends National Strike Force (NSF) Team's Annual Meeting

05/27/2025

On May 20th, 2025, HWCG had the pleasure of addressing the elite National Strike Force (NSF) during their annual meeting in Elizabeth City North Carolina. Kevin Sligh Sr, MBA, in his advisory capacity for HWCG, helped arrange the engagement and provided an introduction. Craig Castille, HWCG’s Managing Director, reviewed the organizations history, key regulations regarding response preparedness and he and Erik Bristol, HWCG Project Manager, reviewed how the Source Control IMT is structured to address the source control mission. Erik reviewed HWCG’s response resources available to prepare the site, well capping and flow back while Craig focused on technology and resources used for engineering assessments, subsea dispersants, and relief well drilling.

HWCG is thankful to Captain Carolyn L Moberley USCG NSFCC, her staff and USCG colleagues assigned to the NSF for their interest in deepwater oil and gas response preparedness.

More about the NSF

The NSF provides rapidly deployable technical experts, specialized equipment, and incident management capabilities for lead agency Incident Commanders, Federal On-Scene Coordinators, and Remedial Project Managers for the most complex response and preparedness missions. As a vital component of the National Response System and Homeland Security missions, the NSF minimized the adverse impact to the public and environment from oil discharges, hazardous material releases, and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incidents.
