HWCG will collaborate with over 200 well control experts on May 10-11 during its annual source control drill in Katy, TX. LLOG Exploration, a leading privately owned deepwater exploration company, will serve as the host for the exercise.
During this large-scale drill, LLOG will work to resolve a simulated well blowout scenario. HWCG’s Mutual Aid team, which includes experts from all sixteen member companies as well as vendors and response partners, will assist LLOG in containing the blowout. Representatives from relevant regulatory agencies such as the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) and United States Coast Guard will also participate in the exercise.
The annual drill supports HWCG’s mission to integrate dynamic response capabilities to quickly and comprehensively respond to a blowout, protecting people, property and the environment. As an advocate for safe and responsible drilling practices, the consortium facilitates planning meetings and technical discussions year-round with its members.
