HWCG Donates to American Cancer Society in Honor of Don Weisinger

HWCG presented the American Cancer Society with a check for nearly $16,000 raised at the 2014 Don Weisinger Memorial Golf tournament. The funds will go towards constructing a new Hope Lodge housing facility for cancer patients in Houston.

The annual golf tournament commemorates the achievements of Don Weisinger, the Noble Energy Drilling Manager who coordinated the early development of a subsea response plan in the wake of the Macondo incident. As a result of his efforts, companies from across the industry joined together to form the consortium now known as HWCG.

Since the start of the golf tournament in 2011, HWCG members and partners have raised a total of $54,269 for cancer research. To reflect this milestone, one of the patient rooms in the upcoming Hope Lodge Houston will be named in honor of HWCG and Don Weisinger. The impact of this year’s gift will also be amplified via a donation-matching campaign in effort to drive fundraising for the facility.

HWCG has already begun making plans for the 2015 tournament, which will continue to raise funds for the American Cancer Society in honor of Don’s legacy as a founding member of the consortium.
