All proceeds from the Don Weisinger Memorial Golf Tournament are donated to the American Cancer Society, including its Hope Lodge program that provides housing for cancer patients traveling to the Houston Medical Center for treatment.

Earlier this year, HWCG donated $15,000 from the 2013 tournament to the American Cancer Society on behalf of the Weisinger Family. The total donation from this year’s tournament is still being calculated, but it is expected to reach a similar amount.

Established in 2011, the golf tournament commemorates the achievements of Don Weisinger, the Noble Energy Drilling Manager who coordinated the early efforts to develop a subsea response plan in the wake of the Macondo incident. Mr. Weisinger pulled together representatives from many companies, creating the critical mass that eventually formed HWCG.

Today HWCG is a consortium of 16 deepwater operators committed to protecting employees, communities, and the environment through a comprehensive subsea response system. HWCG members and contracting partners gather annually to honor and remember Don’s legacy.

The event also includes an annual progress meeting to celebrate the achievements of the consortium as it continues to advance the response system and enhance technical capabilities. This year’s notable achievements include producing an advanced dry dock contingency plan with additional vessels and a significant expansion of capture and process capabilities to a rate of 130,000 bpd.

HWCG congratulates this year’s golf tournament winners, Walter Oil & Gas. The First Place team members were Robert Casselman, Mike Sorrentino, Brad Baily, and Raymond McKaskle. The Second Place team represented Talos Energy LLC, and Third Place was awarded to Oil States Industries, Inc.
